We went for one of the exotic views across the Columbia river with Subbu (my B-I-L). Definitely, a great day to remember.
First stop was Chanticleer point. This is a very good view point for the Columbia river gorge and geographical mark. A very common tourist spot to have an amazing view of the broad river and the beauty of hill and forests around.
Next stop was Vista house. Vista house was a museum and a beautiful view point. We made use of the view point to enjoy and cherish the nature around.
Latourell Waterfalls - is 10 min drive from Vista house and is the first waterfall to see for the day. Here, water falls from a cliff like a straight line and tourists can reach to the bottom of the falls with a small hike.
20 mins from Latourell is Bridal Veil. Bridal Veil water falls is the next one and it appears from a creek and passes under a bridge. After parking on the Gorge highway, a small walk takes to the waterfalls. The water cascades across the rocks that it looks like Bridal Veil.
Then comes, the most dramatic of all - Multnomah falls. This is the tallest waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. The 2 level waterfalls is stunning to see what a walkover bridge inbetween on the Larch mountain. The bridge makes the place absolutely a fantasy. One can plan to spend an hour or two here to enjoy the moment. There are few trails as well if one likes to hike around.
We then stopped by Oneonta creek and Oneonta Gorge. This is a small creek and a picturesque location. We spent some time relaxing here and walked upto Horse tail waterfalls. The thin waterfall from a height mimics the tail of a horse.
The drive by the Hood river was very scenic and exciting. We went through Cascade locks and then through the Bridge of Gods - the only bridge connecting Oregon and Washington across Hood river. The Bridge of Gods is steel Truss bridge and a toll fee is collected for it.
Beacon rock - is a majestic rock like an icon for Columbia gorge. The formation has happened with Basalt - emitted from Volcano. The Beacon rock is around 850 feet high and said to be one of the tallest monolithic rocks.
Thus, ended our trip on Columbia River Gorge and we headed towards Camas for a dinner.
