In United States - Part-5 (Seattle)

Trip mates - Karthik, Sheltan and Manikandeswaran

Timeline - Oct 2010.

Sheltan and I left Vancouver by Thursday evening and reached Seattle by the evening. The train journey from Vancouver to Seattle is one of the most memorable moments of life. The rail route of Vancouver - Olympia - Tacoma - Seattle is one of the must to do in lifetime. Fortunately, we did by the sunset and the views were amazing to spend time by the couches on the second tier of the train ! Amazing experience.

We reached Seattle by around 9 PM and our friend Manikandeswaran picked us up. We reached his apartment in Bellevue and had some dinner. We did a drive across Bellevue and Redmond in the midnight.

Day-1

Friday - relaxed day and we went around Bellevue. Walked around to see the town and spend half a day.

Mani picked us up after he was back from work and went to Kirkland to see a glorious sunset. This was one of the beautiful sunset views one can get by the Lake Washington in Kirkland.

Day-2

After the great sunset previous night, the plan from Mani was to take us around the Seattle covering the aquarium and Space needle primarily.

Seattle Aquarium is located by the waterfront in Seattle. The experience is definitely exotic for all the underwater displays covering the mammals and fish varieties across sizes and colours. The entry is USD 35. We spent close to 90 minutes here.

We walked out of the aquarium and saw Argosy cruises, ready to start. The cruise is a great way to enjoy the ride in the waters as well as a grand view of the Seattle Skyline with Space Needle piking! Who would want to miss this and the too, the cruise was ready to move. We just bought our tickets and jumped in immediately - was not a part of the plan initially. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it and was a great experience.

The Space Needle is an observation tower in Seattle, and stands as an icon and landmark for the the city and the Pacific Northwest. The observation deck, at a height around 600 feet, at the top can be reached through the elevators and this is a mighty view from the top - vies of Seattle downtown, the coastline, mountains around including the Mount Rainier.

Day-3

With one of the Mani's friend, we all joined together for a trek. The first one outside India ! The plan was to do the trek at Mt.Baker-Snoqualmie - Mt.Pilchuck

Trail by the North Cascades - an intermediate difficult trek. It was a dense foggy day to begin with almost around zero degrees.

The grand panoramic views are fantastic to see. This is one the busiest treks around and look out for sign boards. It took us couple of hours to make to the top.

With great memories, we completed the trip to Bellevue and Seattle and returned back to Vancouver.
